Sonavi Labs is a startup based in Baltimore, MD, spun out from research at Johns Hopkins University. Sonavi Labs has created Feelix, a platform that includes an AI-enabled digital stethoscopes, remote monitoring devices, supporting mobile applications and a smart, secure cloud system. The Feelix platform deploys proprietary AI onto a portable, user-friendly device to improve the accuracy and efficiency of healthcare workers in diagnosing and monitoring respiratory diseases, helping to ensure patients receive the correct treatment, saving resources and ultimately reducing the use of antibiotics.
Feelix uses computerized lung sound analysis to detect abnormalities in body sounds and better triage patients based on pathology. Feelix was designed to provide a solution for pediatric mortality as a result of the over-diagnosis of pneumonia and under-diagnosis of asthma. Feelix is also enabled with best-in-class adaptive noise suppression, meaning it can be used in any environment, including challenging environments like rural and remote locations traditionally serviced by Community Health Workers (CHWs). Creating a repeatedly usable, highly accurate screening and monitoring tool that delivers critical information in seconds ensures that patients receive the appropriate treatment, and CHWs avoid over-prescribing antibiotics.
