About this entry
Our team 123 USW at the University of South Wales combines expertise in molecular biology, microbiology and electronic engineering. Our work focuses on the identification of bacterial infections and antibiotic resistant genes using a quick and specific DNA detection method. Our team is developing an affordable, portable point-of-care device designed to specifically detect the causative organism in urinary tract infections within a 20 minute time frame. This will provide information allowing tailored treatment decisions and avoiding unnecessary and inappropriate use of broad spectrum antibiotics.
