Professor Sharland is a consultant in paediatric infectious diseases at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He has a specialist interest in paediatric antimicrobial prescribing. He heads the paediatric infectious diseases service for south London and chairs a national network for children with HIV. He leads the paediatric infectious diseases unit at St George’s Hospital, one of the national training centres in PID in the UK. His research interest focus on optimising antimicrobial prescribing for children. He has published over 150 papers in this area.
